Care Enough to Send A Child to Camp
With the successful completion of the Challenge Grant, the Joe C. Davis Outdoor Center will become the home of the first overnight camp owned by the YMCA of Middle Tennessee since the old Camp Widjiwagan was closed more than a generation ago. This is terrifically exciting news, and the Y is looking forward to the first group of campers in the summer of 2008.
Would you like to help send a child to summer camp? Not just for one summer, but for summer after summer after summer? All it takes is a one-time gift of $25,000 to the endowment to send a child to overnight camp, and $10,000 to send a child to day camp!
So far, we know that one lucky child will be attending overnight camp each year thanks to the generosity of a particularly loyal donor! Recently, Bill Wilson, newly elected chair of the Foundation, announced that he was creating the Lee Barfield Camp Scholarship fund with a gift of $25,000! The gift honors Lee for his three years of service as Foundation Board Chair and is a tremendous tribute to Bill’s and Lee’s excitement about the new overnight camp.
